Replacing power button assembly on nv series gateway?

So ive been trying to figure out the problem with my girlfriends gateway, battery light comes on (blue) ive tried different batteries and held down the power button trying to turn it on with no battery in it also. Im lead to believe that the power button assembly, the actual wire that runs to the motherboard to be more precise, is the problem. Problem is its in the hinge which is attached to the monitor, ive searched far and wide trying to find out what the exact means of replacing this is......any ideas?
