Should I get a HTC Desire Z?

I know a lot about technology, and i knw that this is a very good phone spec wise, however due to loads of people having trouble with he hinge on this phone, i am not sure whether this ruins the whole phone? Do any of these phones actually have a 'working' hinge, are all they all 'faulty'? Thanks - Dan
