What is involved when replacing drivers side door/fender?

I have a 97jeep grand cherokee laredo, upon which the door is totally shot. It won't close because the door/fender have cracks near the hinges and although we've "rigged" it before so as to be usable, it has finally reached the point where it cannot be opened without risking falling completely off. I would like to try to replace it myself if at all possible but have no experience whatsoever in this. However, I am game to try it.
