Is this a good store theft apology letter?

It was an excellent heart-felt apology until you got to the section, "I hope you can understand the predicament of being a student and have very little money." NO...being poor is not an excuse for being a criminal. If it was, do you know how many hundreds of millions of poor people there are in the world? I would completely leave that section out of your letter as there absolutely is no reason for being a thief other than you wanted something for nothing and decided to take it hoping you would not get caught. Most people realize this is morally wrong based on the Ten Commandments and that is all! Please remove that entire section and you do not have to give a reason for stealing other than to say you truly feel it was immoral and violated the principles of man and God.
